Patient-centred denture therapy: we understand you and your dentures

The Galon Dental Prosthetics team really cares for our patients. You’ll notice that level of care from your initial appointment to your final fitting. We invest our time with you early on, to make sure we provide the very best denture solution long into the future.

It's a therapeutic approach to dentures, your care, and your frame of mind

The quality of your dentures and the care taken as they’re created are so essential to your denture experience. But at Galon Dental Prosthetics, we’re really big on the idea that your frame of mind is the most important aspect of your dentures.

We spend the time early on getting to know you and your lifestyle, and providing you with the right education, so when the time comes for your denture fitting, you’re ready to thrive.

Dentures are like any other prosthetic, you need the right support to make the most of it

Dentures are the only prosthetic where technicians and care professionals leave the patient to work it out on their own. At Galon Dental Prosthetics, you’ll receive the support and guidance you need to make the most of your new dentures.  Plus, we’ll spend the time with you to understand your needs and create dentures that fit and function well. The quality of your dentures matters, but at Galon, we believe these are the final product, and it’s the conversations, education, and advice we provide you with ahead of this that make your experience so positive.

QUESTIONS?

Frequently Asked Questions

We know dentures come with plenty of unknowns. Take a look at some of our most frequently asked questions or get in touch with our friendly team.

This will depend on your individual circumstances. Typically, the process will take several weeks. It involves the process of consulting with you, taking dental impressions, and completing fittings, and adjustments. How long this process takes also depends on factors such as the type of dentures being made (full or partial), any necessary tooth extractions beforehand, and the healing time required. We’ll provide you with a personalised timeline based on your specific needs and treatment plan.

If it’s urgent, we can fit immediate dentures for the meantime.

We really want to set your expectations from the beginning, and that involves telling you that there is an adjustment period. Dentures can take a little while to get used to and you will experience a period of discomfort here.

After that adjustment period, though, if your dentures are fitted correctly (we’ll make sure they are), then they will become more comfortable. When we run through the fitting and adjustment process, be sure to be honest with us about how they feel so we can get these as perfect as possible.

Yes, these make a significant impact on your quality of life and how you use your teeth. Missing teeth make eating certain foods and in some cases, talking, really challenging. Dentures are an amazing solution.

Proper denture care is so important for maintaining longevity in your dentures and your oral health. Here are some tips to help you take care of your dentures:

  1. Remove and rinse them after eating to remove food particles and debris.
  2. Brush daily: Brush your dentures daily using a soft-bristle brush and mild denture cleaner or non-abrasive toothpaste. It’s important to use regular toothpaste as this can be too abrasive and damage the denture material.
  3. Soak them overnight: Place your dentures in a denture-cleaning solution or a mild denture-soaking solution overnight to keep them moist and clean.
  4. Handle them with care: When handling your dentures, be gentle and avoid bending or damaging the plastic or metal parts. Pro tip: place a towel in the sink while handling them to prevent breakage if accidentally dropped.
  5. Take care of your mouth: Even with dentures, it’s important to maintain good oral hygiene. Brush your gums, tongue, and any remaining teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove plaque and stimulate circulation.
  6. Regular dental check-ups: Visit us regularly for check-ups and professional denture cleanings. We’ll also assess the fit of your dentures and make any necessary adjustments.
  7. Avoid hot water: Do not use hot water to clean your dentures, as it can cause them to warp. Stick to lukewarm or cool water.
  8. Avoid abrasive cleaners: Avoid using harsh or abrasive cleaners, bleach, or strong chemicals on your dentures, as they can damage the denture material.
  9. Handle adhesive use carefully: If you use denture adhesive, follow the instructions carefully and avoid using too much, as this can affect the fit of your dentures.
  10. Store properly: When not wearing your dentures, store them in a denture-cleaning solution or plain water to prevent them from drying out.

By following these care tips and maintaining regular dental check-ups, you can keep your dentures clean, comfortable, and in good condition.

Yes, whether we’re creating partial dentures, where these need to match your existing, natural teeth or a full dentures, where they need to look natural and cohesive, a natural look is always our priority.

Yes, they can. We offer urgent denture repairs for emergency denture breaks so you can get back to life sooner.

Yes, there are. Depending on your lifestyle, budget, and number of missing teeth, dental implants may be suitable for you. These are individual teeth that are placed in your jawbone using titanium screws that mimic roots.

For a few missing teeth, dental bridges may suit. These consist of artificial teeth, known as pontics, that are anchored to the adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. Dental bridges are fixed in place and can provide a stable and functional replacement for missing teeth.

All-on-4 implants are an innovative solution for replacing a full arch of missing teeth. This technique uses four dental implants strategically placed in the jawbone to support a full set of artificial teeth. All-on-4 implants offer a secure and permanent alternative to dentures.

Whether these suit you or not is highly dependant on your budget and lifestyle. You’re welcome to book a consultation with us to discuss your options.
